The 2006 Carson-Newman Eagle men's soccer squad earned another South Atlantic Conference regular season title. The Eagles led the South Atlantic Conference in shutouts and held opponents to a 0.48 goals against average. Head Coach Allen Vital's squad reached the SAC Tournament final and earned a trip to the NCAA Division II Appalachian Regional tournament to conclude their 2006 season at 15-2-2. Senior forward Dario Carrasco was named the SAC's Co-Player of the Year while goalkeeper Tyler Baldock, midfielder Carlos Maqueda, and defender Thomas Ostvold earned first team All-SAC honors. Freshman Omar Cooke earned All-SAC second team honors as well as the conference's Freshman of the Year award while teammates Everardo Flores and David Carrasco joined him on the All-SAC second team. Baldock, Dario Carrasco, Cooke and Ostvold also earned All-Appalachian Region honors from Daktronics while Baldock, Maqueda, and Ostvold earned All-Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Eagles won 11 consecutive games to claim the conference title and reach the finals of the SAC Tournament. Despite the departure of record-setting goalie Tyler Baldock, the Eagles will seek to maintain their SAC title streak with the return All-SAC performers Flores, Ostvold, and Maqueda returning in 2007.
