INDIANAPOLIS--- Carson-Newman's regular-season game with North Alabama has been moved Thursday, Sept. 4 as part of the 2008 NCAA Division II and CBS College Sports Network football television package, the NCAA announced Wednesday. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. at Burke-Tarr Stadium. "We've received tremendous feedback on the success of these televised games from member institutions," said Division II Vice President Mike Racy. "The schools obviously love the exposure for their teams, but there's also a collective benefit because our programming emphasizes so much about Division II from a broader perspective. We're excited that CBS College Sports Network has agreed to increase that exposure." The Carson-Newman/North Alabama showdown is part of a six-game D-II schedule to be televised on CBS College Sports Network (formerly CSTV). The five games are (all times Eastern): The broadcasts will also be syndicated through regional sports networks and made available via broadband at www.ncaa.com. As part of last year's package, FSN South carried the Mars Hill/Catawba game. C-N/UNA is expected to be one of the top regular season games of the year. Both teams return key players from squads that finished the season in the top 15 in 2007. Carson-Newman was 10-1 in 2007, and opens its 2008 campaign at Concord (W. Va.) on Aug. 28.
