Feb. 24, 2008 JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Eagles pumped in 61 second-half points to break a halftime tie and pull away with a 102-85 win in Jefferson City on Saturday afternoon. On senior day, three Eagles playing in their final regular-season home game reached double figures. Scott Williams had his best game of the season, pouring in 23 points on 11-of-20 shooting. He also had 14 rebounds. Andy Tipton added 18 points and Darren Williams 15 as the Eagles broke the 100-point mark for fifth time this season. The two teams traded small leads in the first half, only to be knotted at 41-41 at the break. Lincoln Memorial cut the Eagle lead back to two points at 62-60 on a three by sophomore Beau Brown, but the Eagles answered with the game's biggest run. Carson-Newman (18-6, 8-4 SAC) exploded on a 13-1 run to push the lead out to 14 at 75-61. Tipton and Darren Williams keyed the run, chipping in six each during the spurt. Scott Williams finished off C-N's 18th win of the season, keeping the game out of reach by scoring 13 of the Eagles last 15 points. Terry Delaney led LMU with an impressive double-double, pouring in 20 points and grabbing 14 boards. Emmanuel Njomo added 23 points and six boards. Ryan Whitaker added 12. Carson-Newman returns to action on Wednesday night when it travels to Catawba. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.
